External signs and structure – characterizing the indicator of the style of the house
In a general sense, however, the style is a lexical term that we use to classify buildings according to their external characteristics, structure, materials used and the historical period. Buildings are positioned as belonging to the same classification (or style) if they have many identical characteristics. Here is a short list of such characteristics:
• roof shape and its slope
• building size and number of floors
• Window size, shape and their location
• door shape and its location
• Decorative elements, such as protrusions and cornice
• building materials such as brick, plaster or wood
• flooring
• Historical period
