What affects the quality and properties of the parquet
The strength and wear resistance of the parquet is determined by three factors: wood breed, sawing quality and quality of wood surface processing.
Paul from a solid wood
• wood breed: wood species differ from each other with their strength. The stability of the parquet to dents is measured by the Brinell method. Among the durable species of wood, tropical (Yatoba 7.0 and Merbau 4.9) are of particular value). The German oak has a strength coefficient of 3.7 HB, maple 3.0 HB, and alder 2.1nV. Coniferous breeds of trees belong to soft varieties – pine strength is 1.6 NV.
• wood sawing: the tree trunk can be cut at different angles, which gives the surface a certain pattern (texture) and affects the strength of wood. Wooden canvases with straight annual rings are used for the manufacture of strong industrial parquet or wooden pavement. In residential premises, a parquet floor made of such a canvas is characterized by an interesting design.
• surface processing: applying protective equipment to the surface of the parquet (varnish, olifa, paraffin) prevents not only the appearance of dents, but also increases abrasion resistance. In this case, the law applies: the thicker the layer of varnish, the stronger the protection of the parquet. Modern parquet processing tools provide reliable protection for only 1-2 layers.
